Dear supporters, First of all, we want to say THANK YOU to you all. We beat our own record in 2023:
💜 Never before have we got so many women on bikes in one year! 🤩🚴♀️ In exact figures: 10 training sessions a week – EVERY week, in the core period from May to November! Year-round programmes, just at a lower frequency.
We held a total of 319 training sessions in 2023 alone. We got 358 women and girls on their bikes.
In addition, after training and a small traffic theory test, we were able to hand over 65 bicycle sets from donations (bicycle, helmet, lock and bright light) to the graduates in Berlin who were safe enough or continued their training independently.
Since autumn 2015, a total of 1.856 women have been put on bikes. In addition, 622 bicycle sets were donated to the women. A total of 1.164 cycle training sessions have been organised.
We have also organised many side events: Participation in the dance demo ,,One Billion Rising”, bike demo for Women’s Day, many bike tours, even multi-day tours to the Baltic Sea, bowling, celebrations for the 8th birthday of #BKS, participation in charity events for other organisations. In addition, #BIKEYGEES e.V. now has its own Wikipedia page and we were honoured with the Rainbow Award from the Lesbian-Gay City Festival Berlin.
All of this largely with only 1.5 funded staff positions, implemented largely on a voluntary basis!
And even when it’s gloomy outside and the world is outdoing itself in cruelty, we try to stand up to it all.
And
so we get plenty of exercise in the fresh air to strengthen our immune
system and produce happiness hormones. We can often remember the days
outside as sunny in our hearts. There are funding cuts everywhere.
Previous project applications have unfortunately been rejected.
But we continue to hope for the strength of the community! Donations always welcome.
